Membership
Stuart has experience in membership management across multiple markets including rural, urban, and suburban areas. He helped develop and run specialty membership programs in coordination with Migrant Farmer Workers in Tampa, the La Paz outreach ministry in Chattanooga, and created school partnerships with community groups to overcome being shut out of school systems in the Winchester area. He has worked consistently with commissioner staff to maintain over 70% retention including national achievement for 2015 with 74.2% and leading Area 7 in membership growth of 6.2% and ending 2018 as the only Area 7 Council with membership growth.
Sample Projects
Education and the Community: Stuart used multiple resources to create a community and education partnership guide. This outlined ways that the schools and scouting could work together meeting the needs of all youth. This allowed access to schools through non-traditional methods.
Creative Marketing: During the 2010 holiday season Stuart wrote a radio spot, and then coordinated the recording of the ad along with featured after school daily runs resulting in 28 new cub scouts during that week.
Charter Relationships: The membership study and listening phase during spring of 2013 taught the BSA that there is a gap between our charter partners, the councils, and even the units they charter. Gary Butler - National Deputy Chief Executive, asked Stuart to work directly with the Community Alliance Group to create a new Council level board position and committee to help serve our charter partners better. This is the current beta testing model that will be released next year.
